Back Paddock | Works by Lucie Howson
Lucie Howson lives and works in Kyneton (Dja Dja Wurrung Country) Victoria, working primarily with oil paint, Lucie's work explores themes of self and feminine identity.
Drawing inspiration from the softness and natural curves of the female form, she pairs these elements with expressive line work and bold, contrasting colours.
The scenes depicted in her paintings are drawn from her own lived experiences and the stories of those around her.
Full Circle | Works by Mel Ogden
Central Victorian artist Mel Ogden started playing with mud in a different form 8 years go, and took up ceramics to complement her landscape practice. She has focused on Ikebana vases to utilise material she finds in the landscape. Mel also enjoys making tableware.
"I was born in Japan and lived overseas in Singapore, USA and Taiwan before returning to Australia for tertiary studies. I completed a B.A. in painting and sculpture at ANU in 1991, then an M.A. by Research in sculpture at RMIT in 2004. The MA project was based upon 'reverie', an 11 acre landscape comprised of 13 spaces in Lyonville, VIC.Â
My time overseas has had a significant impact on the development of my visual language, with a particular appreciation of Japanese aesthetics, and landscape continues to be my main practice."
