Kmac + 1 | Kathryn McAllister
Kathryn McAllister brings to our gallery a new body of work; a collection of finely stitched reclaimed textiles.
"This work is about celebrating my life as a solo person, and exploring what that means in relation to my place amongst others, here at this time, in this place.
I find joy and inspiration in my family, friendships, creativity, curiosity, and nature. I am fortunate to have many creative friendships which nourish my soul: love+creativity= long lasting, fulfilling, reciprocal.
My connection with nature is a vital component of my growth as a whole being. I’ve always loved light, colour, shape and form - views through half-open doorways, reflections of light, movement, colour on the wall - from my bed, while doing the dishes or watering the garden . Simple patterns created by tiny moments in our ordinary days. Tokens of immediate beauty and a quiet that is accessible to us all. During my lonelier days, I remind myself of the depth of the bond I feel with nature - how deeply we are a part of it and it is a part of us. It IS our very nature. We are never alone. There is always a +1."
The exhibition OPENS Saturday 4th April from 2-4pm and continues during opening hours until 2nd May.
All works will be made available from Tuesday 5th May either collected in store or postage.
