“When you do something, you should burn yourself completely, like a good bonfire, leaving no trace of yourself.” – Shunryu Suzuki

These prints are visual clues for me in my continued exploration of conditionality. Layers of veil-like, translucent colour and stencils of fine, washed gauze build on and affect each other. The printing of each layer is like a meditation in moment-to-moment receptivity and responsiveness: remaining open to what presents itself creates endless and unpredictable possibilities, reflecting the magic of creativity and the mysteries of relationship. My intention to remain in what the writer and artist Stephen Batchelor calls a “state of perplexity” during the making of each print, draws me a little closer to the attitude suggested by Shunryu Suzuki!
