Symbiotica | Tania Verdez

Symbiotica is a collection of works made and inspired by her years living in the rainforests of Far North Queensland. The work explores the depths of healing provided by that ancient landscape and the vibrant energy and fecundity that abounds there, embracing the deep desire to become one with the moss, the rivers, the tree roots, the orchids and the pulsating fungal life force. Like a moth in a chrysalis the past becomes liquid and the future emerges in a fury of luminescence.

 

Tania Verdez is a Croatian Kiwi immigrant with a complicated past and a chequered future. She makes and paints intuitively, influenced by her surroundings and the energy of the moment. Her work is an intricate collage of experience and imagination, weaving pain, beauty and hope into both functional and sculptural works.
